In the village of Kiriao, in western Côte d’Ivoire, the Dynamic Women farming group welcomed the delegation from the National Agency for Rural Development with dancing, singing, and pure joy.
Their energy matches the stakes. These women are championing Home-Grown School Feeding, an approach that tackles three challenges at once: keeping children in school, fighting food insecurity, and improving smallholder farmers’ livelihoods.
They are not alone. Across the Nawa and Guémon regions, 100 farming groups receive inputs and technical support from the National Agency for Rural Development, commissioned by CLEF — the coalition uniting the Government of Côte d’Ivoire, two philanthropic foundations, and 16 cocoa and chocolate companies.
Together, they share one vision: to make school feeding sustainable and accessible to every primary school child in Côte d’Ivoire.

CLEF funds school infrastructure and childcare facilities, supports teacher training in evidence-based pedagogical techniques, promotes behavior change so parents engage in their children’s education and apply good parenting practices to boost early childhood development, and tests a cutting-edge school nutrition program.
