Before traveling to the heart of Côte d’Ivoire’s cocoa-growing regions to meet the School Management Committees (COGES) in Bakaridougou and Assoumankro – where CLEF partners, including the Government of Côte d’Ivoire, 16 cocoa and chocolate companies, and two philanthropic foundations, are supporting the construction of new school infrastructure – we made an important stop in Abidjan.
At the Ministry of National Education and Literacy, we met with the Director in charge of Coordinating, Promoting, and Monitoring COGES activities. He praised the strong commitment of parents and local leaders who dedicate their time within the COGES to ensure every child has the opportunity to learn.
From mobilizing communities and supporting school leaders to promoting student enrollment, COGES play a vital role in translating national education policy into meaningful change. Their dedication isn’t just commendable – it’s indispensable to achieving the Ministry’s goals.
